I hate Windows

Dear Diary, today my computer locked up. Because of my mouse.

I was minding my own business, just typing and checking Bible references, when the computer decided not to recognize my mouse any more. The mouse was summarily dis-invited from the little Windows party that the monitor, network cable, and other plug & play devices were having. Most likely they were tired of the mouse's squeaky scroll wheel. That's really not cool, man...take a hike, eh?

I flailed hopelessly at the keyboard. The Windows key ignored me; Left Control and Escape were obviously in on the whole thing; and Right Control, Alt, and Delete were off playing Dance Dance Revolution. I unplugged and replugged the mouse. The system tray spastically popped up messages about detecting new hardware, unknown USB devices, and failure to install, repeating them again and again like a loopy answering machine. (The best one included the line, "For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.") I unplugged the mouse again, eyeballed the USB connector, considering praying over it, and replugged the mouse.

Moments later, the mouse was back.

I hope Vista's better. I doubt it.

Edit note:It just happened again. Trying a new USB port this time. Oy.

Jenn, your computer is Canadian?

Wait, is your computer Ian??

Canadians are cool.

No...I think Ian is too busy to be my computer...also Jocelyn might have some issues with that. And anyway I think he owns a Mac. :-D

You should remember that Minnesota is practically part of Canada, however much we try to deny it. We do occasionally supplement our Scandi-hoovian expressions with "eh."

*laughs shamelessly at you*

awwww..poor little Jenn. I'll pray that your computer gets better. *snickers*

oh..and I agree with Steph...Canadians are cool. (Minnesotans are totally not anywhere near like Canadians =p)

We try not to be like our neighbors further north...occasionally it happens...but we mostly strive to, you know, eat lutefisk and listen to Prairie Home Companion and stuff like that. Instead of speaking French and nationally obsessing over ice hockey.

And Amy, my dear...if I were asking someone to debate the similarities, differences, and coolness factors of Minnesotans vs. Canadians, the last person I would ask is a Texan.

just restart the computer

But that wouldn't have been worth blogging about. :-) Besides, plugging the mouse into a different USB port seems to have solved the problem.

oh and don't get vista. XP is much simpler and easier.

Ducky said...

Yes brother dear. *rolls eyes* I do read CNET, you know.

When I buy a new laptop later this year, I'll probably just install XP on it.

I say that after using vista, dear sister
